On April 2 the Institute of Noetic Sciences (IONS) launched a teleseminar series on scientific evidence that supports psychic abilities.
A majority of people say they have experienced these, but lack the public support to discuss it.
Renowned USA parapsychologist, Dr Dean Radin, will host many of the teleseminar talks, which include energy healing, spiritual intelligence and neurotherapy.
The series will also feature spiritual scientist Dr Deepak Chopra, futurist Stephan Swartz, and transpersonal psychology pioneer Frances Vaugn. Other speakers include Amit Goswami, Stan Groff, Azim Khamisa, Christopher de Quincey, Susan Blackmore, William Bengston, Andrew Newberg and Howard Hall.
Free access to the teleseminars is available to the public on the first Wednesday of every month. The eight-part Mysteries of Consciousness series runs until June 29, 2011. Partner-level membership is available for access to all 40 teleseminars. Visit Noetic.Org for more information on membership.
Teleseminars are recorded and available to all users registered on the Noetic.Org website. Users will also find a discussion forum, a host of online activities and an extensive online library.
According to a 2005 Gallup survey, about three in four Americans believe in at least one paranormal phenomenon, with 41 per cent citing ESP. Fifty-five per cent of those surveyed also believe that the healing powers of the mind have been demonstrated empirically.
Yet, according to Dr Radin, taboos in science still discourage these people from discussing their experiences in public, and prevent conventional scientists from sharing their psi research. IONS has taken the lead in bucking convention in an effort to effect far-reaching change.
The Institute of Noetic Sciences was founded in 1973 by Apollo 14 astronaut Edgar Mitchell. It is a non-profit research, education and membership organisation which supports individual and collective transformation through consciousness research and educational outreach, and engages a global learning community in the realisation of our human potential.
Funded by members, donors and grants, IONS’ primary programme areas are consciousness and healing, extended human capacities, and emerging world views. All information is on the website Noetic.Org
